Review: Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Hyaluronic Acid Lotion

I grabbed this lotion last winter because my skin was freaking out—red, dry, and just generally unhappy. I’d heard good things about Hada Labo, so I thought I’d give it a shot.

Product Overview

  1. The Gokujyun Premium Hyaluronic Acid Lotion is a deeply moisturizing product designed to keep your skin hydrated for extended periods.
  2. It contains eight types of hyaluronic acid, which is renowned for its moisturizing properties.
  3. Despite its rich viscosity, it absorbs easily into the skin, promising a healthy, moisturized complexion.
  4. This lotion is weakly acidic, fragrance-free, colorant-free, oil-free, alcohol-free, and paraben-free.
  5. Additionally, the packaging is environmentally friendly, partially made from biomass materials.

Eight Types of Hyaluronic Acid

1. Hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid (nanoized hyaluronic acid)
2. Sodium acetylated hyaluronate (super hyaluronic acid)
3. Hydroxypropyltrimonium hyaluronate (skin-adsorbing hyaluronic acid)
4. Sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer (3D hyaluronic acid)
5. Lactococcus/hyaluronic acid fermentation liquid (lactic acid fermented hyaluronic acid)
6. Hydrolyzed sodium hyaluronate (penetrating type hyaluronic acid)
7. Sodium hyaluronate
8. Hydrolyzed alkyl (C12-13) glyceryl hyaluronate (Hyalopair®)

How to Use

Use it as your toner. It’s safe to use as often as you like, but twice daily is recommended.

Pros

1. The bottle is designed for one-handed use and gets softer as you use it, so you can squeeze out every last drop.
2. With no synthetic fragrances, colorants, or irritating ingredients like ethanol, paraben, and mineral oil, it’s perfect for sensitive skin.
3. Even though it’s a lotion, you can use it as your toner.
4. The texture is rich but not sticky or heavy, which is perfect for winter.
5. It doesn’t cause breakouts.
6. My skin felt hydrated and comfortable all winter, with no tightness or itchiness.

Cons

  1. It takes a while to sink in, so I don’t use it now that it’s summer in Japan.
  2. It didn’t do much for the redness.

I’m so grateful for this lotion because it helped my skin survive the harsh winter without costing a fortune. One bottle lasted the whole season, making it a great deal. If you have sensitive, acne-prone skin that tends to get really dry, I highly recommend it.
